Help for Unemployed or Underemployed Homeowners
The Philadelphia Unemployment Project won a major victory at the beginning of the year with a moratorium on Sheriff Sales. The moratorium was successful in stopping Sheriff sales on 1400 homes in January, giving people a chance to apply for relief and help in saving their homes.
Philadelphia homeowners who have recently lost their jobs or become underemployed have an opportunity to save their homes through the Emergency Homeowners Loan Program (EHLP). This program comes from legislation that was origionally introduced by Rep. Chaka Fattah. For information on how to apply for this relief, call PUP's housing hotline at 215.334.4663 or 215.34. HOME
PUP offices are at 112 N. Broad St on the 11th floor and their office number is 215.557.0822
