Mayor Nutter's Vision for a World Class City

Mayor Nutter spoke last week in front of the City Council to present his five year plan and budget for FY 2010. In this speech he laid out plans to raise taxes on working and poor people through property and sales tax increases.

He also confronted the leadership of the city workers unions to pull the belt on their members.

He closed his speech with a vision for the City after the economic crisis and 'temporary' tax increases. But in this vision for a world class city it must be asked, who would two casinos benefit, will a 'leaner' government really be able to support already inadequent social serices, and "what about the trash?"
