A community meeting with Philadelphia Mural Arts Program was held this past Monday April 21 at Songhai Cultural Center. Jane Golden, director of the Mural Arts Program, and other program staff and artists were there to listen to the concerns of the city's residents at large. In this clip, Rosemary Cubas (Community Leadership Institute) explains how the Mayor's controversial Neighborhood Transformation Initiative (NTI) has effected people in her community in North Philadelphia, as well as other parts of the city. This archival footage documents some of the thinking and organizing Rosemary was doing around this issue.

This evening a group of us met with folks from NABR to talk about city-wide organizing against the proposed casinos in Philadelphia. These casinos are another element of the overall development that is happening in this city that is displacing people. We learned many interesting facts about casinos-- I encourage other readers to check out their website and blog as well.
