VIDEO: Rep. Paul Clymer Promises Moratorium on Casinos in PA

This evening a group of us met with folks from NABR to talk about city-wide organizing against the proposed casinos in Philadelphia. These casinos are another element of the overall development that is happening in this city that is displacing people. We learned many interesting facts about casinos-- I encourage other readers to check out their website and blog as well.

Below is a clip from the rally NABR held on June 1st which shows Rep. Paul Clymer, a conservative Republican representing Bucks County, commenting on the proposed casinos and promising his sponsorship of a bill that will place a moratorium on the liscensing. One of the organizers from NABR mentioned this evening that there are almost no liberal/Democratic representatives--both locally and nationally--who have come out against casino projects. Politicians such as Clymer are approaching this as a moral issue and are opposed to gambling more than the actual impact they would have on communities in terms of economics.
