WATCH: No Casino in Chinatown, No Casinos in Philadelphia
Last week marks a victory in the campaign to stop casinos in Philadelphia as the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board heard the case of Foxwoods trying to keep their license to open up slots in Philadelphia. The Board passed the decision to extend Foxwoods license but is requiring Foxwoods to remain in its originally proposed South Philly location rather than a location on Market East in Center City near Chinatown proposed almost year ago.
The political establishment in both Harrisburg and Philadelphia are at odds over the placement of slots in Philadelphia. But both camps have not answered concerns of groups like The No Casino in the Heart of the City Coalition, who point out
the impacts of predatory gambling in Philadelphia. The No Casino Coalition sees the halting of a casino in Center City as a first step in victory to stopping casinos in Philadelphia all together.
